It provides vivid descriptions about the violence and torture in the cultural revolution. These stories reflect the hard feelings, sympathy, as well as nostalgia of the author. For the generation born after 1940 in China, all of them had experienced a big turmoil and a series of political movements. Therefore, they do have plenty impressive stories.
