Über den Autor Potter, Beatrix

Beatrix Potter wurde 1866 in London geboren. Ihr ganzes Leben war bestimmt von der Liebe zu Tieren und zur Malerei. Ihre Kindheit war von viktorianischer Enge und den Ferienausflügen nach Schottland und zum Lake District geprägt, in denen sie mit ihren zeichnerischen Studien zu Flora und Fauna begann. Es sollte aber Peter Hase - der berühmteste und jetzt über hundertjährige Held eines ihrer Kinderbücher - sein, der Potter zu ihrer Karriere als weltberühmte Autorin und Illustratorin verhalf. Sie schrieb und illustrierte noch zahlreiche andere Kinderbücher, die jeweils von anderen, liebenswerten Tiercharakteren handelten.
